One citizen journalist killed and 4 injured in Syria

Journalists in Syria face severe danger as the conflict worsens within the country.

citizen journalist Khaled Al Bakr was found dead on May 27th following violent bombings lead by the Syrian army in Homs.

On June 10th, the Doha Centre for Media Freedom spoke to Syrian activist Hadi Al-Abdullah who confirmed the death of Al Bakr in Alkassir, a small town near Homs.

Another four citizen journalists were seriously injured during another bombardment by the Syrian against two press centres located in Hay Al Khalidiya and Homs. This was confirmed by militant Aboujaafar Al Migharbel. For security measures, their identity will not be disclosed.

So far 37 journalists were killed in Syria, according to Doha Centre for Media Freedom’s report.
