Director of Middle East and North Africa at the Alliance for Freedom and Dignity (AFD), Abdelmajid Mrari visited Doha Centre for Media Freedom today where he met with the staff of the center and learned more about its work.

Mrari was briefed on the work of DCMF and the center's regional and international efforts in supporting journalists and defending press freedom and freedom of expression.

He met with staff from various departments and programs of the center, including monitoring, advocacy, international relations and the website. Mrari noted that he was pleased to learn about DCMF’s mission and activities.

Mrari’s visit to DCMF comes within the framework of the probe curried out by AFD to investigate and document the humanitarian impact on ordinary citizens resulting from the blockade imposed on Qatar on June 5.

A 20 member delegation from the Brussels based organization visited Doha recently where they met with many of the victims in Qatar including women and children who are unable to reunite with their fathers because they are citizens of the blockading countries.

Mrari said that press freedom violations and violations against journalists will be an important part of the report to be submitted by AFD to the European and international institutions.
